Seattle Antiquarian Book Fair

The 2007 Seattle Antiquarian Book Fair will be taking place this weekend, October 13-14, at the Seattle Center Pavilion. Book Fair hours are Saturday from 10am-6pm and Sunday from 11am-4pm.

You will find us at Booth 22 where we will be exhibiting a broad selection of material from our stock. A few highlights are described below.

Kelly, Brigit Pegeen. ISKANDARIYA. Aquatints by Briony Morrow-Cribbs. Vancouver, BC: Heavenly Monkey, 2007. Limited Edition. Thin octavo. [9]pp. of text, interleaved with aquatints, eleven in all, including frontispiece and vignette. Signatures gathered and sewn into a plain paper wrapper, enclosed with a full-sheet (approximately 13 x 20") original etching on Sekishu which serves as a dust-wrapper. From a numbered edition of fifty copies signed by the poet & artist, this is one of 35 copies in the 'regular' edition, housed in a paper slipcase. $600.


Cunard, Nancy. Negro. Anthology made by... 1931-1933. London: Nancy Cunard at Wishart & Co, 1934. First Edition. Large quarto. viii, 855pp. Illustrated throughout. Full brown linen cloth over boards, stamped boldly in reddish-orange on the upper cover and spine; top edge stained brown, old pencil title handwritten on bottom edge. With the ink ownership inscription (in the year of publication) of Taylor Gordon (notable singer in the Harlem Renaissance and author of the 1929 autobiography 'Born to Be') on the front free endpaper, and a presentation inscription from him to "Dr. Melville Charlton in memory of glorious days...". Cloth rubbed through a bit at corners, otherwise a bright, nice association copy of this monumental work. $5,500.

Faulkner, William. These 13. Stories by... New York: Jonathan Cape & Harrison Smith, [1931]. Limited edition. Octavo. 358pp. Quarter brick-red cloth with silver-beige cloth over boards; spine stamped in silver, top edge silver, and retaining the original glassine tissue dust-wrapper. Dust-wrapper showing just very minor chipping along the top edge, a number of signatures un-opened; altogether a Fine, fresh copy, with the rare, original dust-wrapper. $7,500.


Roosevelt, Theodore. Ranch Life and the Hunting-Trail. Illustrated by Frederic Remington. New York: The Century Company, 1888. First Edition. Quarto. 186pp. Original brown decorated cloth stamped in gilt and dark brown, and designed by George Wharton Edwards. Illustrated throughout with many vignettes and a few full page illustrations by Frederic Remington. A Very Good+ copy in the ‘secondary’ binding; with the very rare original printed dustjacket, which reproduces the design from the front cover. $9,500.
